Rastafari Diaspora Secretariat
The Rastafari Diaspora Secretariat is the principal administrative organ of the Rastafari Family and is headed by a Secretary General who is the Chief Executive Officer.

Mission Statement of the Secretariat:
To provide dynamic leadership and service in partnership with Community Institutions and groups, toward the attainment of a viable, internationally competitive and sustainable Community, with improved quality of life for all.

The Secretariat comprises the following Offices and Directorates:

Directorates -

Foreign and Community Relations - (TBA)
Human and Social Development  - (TBA)
Regional Trade and Economic Integration - (TBA)

Together these positions comprise the Executive Management of the Rastafari Diaspora and are responsible for the strategic management and direction of the Organisation and for working closely with the Councils and their Chairpersons to promote the implementation of decisions.

The main functions of the Secretariat are:
  • Initiate or develop proposals for consideration and decision by the relevant Organs
  • Initiate, organise and conduct studies
  • Provide, on request, services to the Diaspora on Community-related matters
  • Service meetings of the Organs of the Diaspora and take appropriate follow-up action on decisions taken
  • Collect, store and disseminate relevant information to the Diaspora
  • Assist the Diaspora in the development and implementation of proposals and programmes
  • Mobilise resources from donor agencies to assist in the implementation of Diaspora Programmes
  • Prepare the draft Work Programme and Budget of the Secretariat for examination by the Budget Committee
  • Provide, on request, technical assistance to national authorities to facilitate implementation of the Diaspora decisions; and
  • Conduct, as mandated, fact-finding assignments in the Diaspora

On Sunday February 18 2007, we would like to conduct a Motorcade along the North Coast Highway as we promote our Proposal to have it named the Bob Marley Highway .
 
The Motorcade from Ocho Rios Bus Park starting at 11:00 a.m. via Trelawny to the Sangster’s International Airport Round-a-bout, Montego Bay, with a reception at the Reggae Village , Flamingo Beach , Trelawny (border of St. James).
 
The event will be seen later on BobArtsTV in Montego Bay on channel 6, Trelawny 38 & 56, St. Ann 55, 65 and 73
