The Ghana Rastafari Council came about as a need to organize and centralize the representation of Rastafari in Ghana as well as to facilitate needed mediation within the Rastafari Community. The Council has set aside a “Groundation” meeting time to reflect and reason on Rastafari Doctrine. Outside of this specific time for doctrinal reasoning the Council and its membership has agreed not to discuss doctrine so as to keep the working relationship amongst the collective progressive and not bogged down in differences of opinion
The executive body of the Council expressed there concern for Jamaica from which the call for Repatriation and Reparation expanded to the four corners of the earth. The concern is that so few have actually left Jamaica to come home. Due to this reality the Council is considering sending representation to Jamaica in August of 2010 to sound the final call to step from the sinking sand to the rock of creation; Africa.
A request was put forward for documented information on Kwame Nkrumah and Haile Selassie’s relationship. The lay person in Ghana knows little about their own history and a focus on Kwame Nkrumah is occurring in this Centenary year.
Black Madonna expressed the continued need for balancing the female inclusion in Rastafari.
Reasoning’s on the need for Reparation and Repatriation Studies and Models occurred.
The Ghana Rastafari Council is to be commended for its vision and peaceful deliberations. It is encouraging to experience so many countries igniting councils to best represent their specific and common goals. A key to cohesion within the Global Rastafari Family is consistent communication between the different councils that have been forming in the Motherland and in the Diaspora.
