Autobiography translated and authored by Edward Ullendorf RasTafarI was chosen to be King on a very special day, MASQAL, this day is commemorated in Ethiopia as the finding of the true cross and is one of the days stipulated in the EWF constitution to be observed with appropriate ceremony. Without any doubt InI can state that InI Redeemer is here. On this day every year in Masqal Square Addis Ababa and at each and every EOT Church throughout the country Fires are lit to remember the vision & reward given to Queen Elleni of Ethiopia to light a Fire and excavate the earth where the shadow from the clouds of smoke settled on the land outside Jerusalem. From this excavation the remains of the Cross of Yesus was found and brought back to Ethiopia. This was Ethiopia's reward for defeating the Muslims who had occupied Jerusalem for many years. Are these event mere coincidence? or the fulfillment of prophecy, the true cross has been found. YASUS AFARI NOMINATED AMBASSADOR FOR THE PARLIAMENT OF WORLD RELIGIONS Internationally acclaimed Author, Poet and Artiste Yasus Afari has been offered the prestigious role of Ambassador to the 116 year old Council for The Parliament of the World’s Religions. Consequently, Yasus has been nominated to The Parliament of the World’s Religions 2009 Ambassador Program.   The Parliament of the World’s Religions brings together the world’s religious and spiritual communities, their leaders and their followers to a gathering where peace, diversity and sustainability are discussed and explored in the context of interreligious understanding and cooperation. This event is graced with the presence of prominent and significant world religious leaders, the likes of the Dalai Lama and many others from 74 countries worldwide. This year’s event will be hosted in Melbourne Australia December 3rd to 9th.   SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO THE INTERFAITH MOVEMENT On the basis of his significant contribution to the interfaith movement, Yasus has been singled out on account of his hectic world tours and his visionary activities in the interest of the interfaith movement especially since 2007. Interestingly, The Ministry of Culture recently dubbed Yasus Afari Jamaica’s Cultural Ambassador. Earlier this year, Yasus was similarly dubbed when in January 2009 he appeared at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs International Diplomatic Conference held at the Courtleigh Auditorium in Kingston Jamaica.   ROLE OF THE PARLIAMENT OF THE WORLD’S RELIGIONS AMBASSADOR If Yasus accepts this highly esteemed role, he will then represent the World Parliament of The World’s Religions in Jamaica, the Caribbean and the rest of the world. His duties will include sensitising Governments, Faiths and Religious groups, CARICOM and the general Caribbean communities about the World Parliament and the interfaith movement. Very significantly, he will represent the interest and position, concepts and world views of Rastafarians. In this connection, Yasus’ main lecture presentation at the Parliament is entitled “Rastafari, The Livity of Spirituality”. Consistent with the role of Ambassador, he will be given special parliamentary privileges and responsibilities relating to Rastafari, Jamaica and the Caribbean.   REGGAE PERFORMANCES Yasus will also be doing several performances at the event and the Sacred Music Festival as part of the Parliament of the World’s Religions’ three days activities.   HISTORIC AND UNPRESIDENTED EVENT FOR JAMAICA, THE CARIBBEAN AND RASTAFARI This unprecedented development represents a great precedent for Jamaica, the Caribbean and the general Rastafarian community as no Jamaican or Rastafarian has been represented at this level at the Parliament of The World’s Religions in the 116 year history of the organisation. Consistent with his pace setting role, Yasus has been in consultation with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture; Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade as well as Tourism.
