RASTAFARI IN BOTSWANA

Nehasa 27 September 2nd Introducing President Munyah
Introducing President Munyah
Greetings and Jah Blessings I bring to the Suns and Dawtahs of the Emperor and Empress of Zion!

Consistent with the balance His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I instituted on November 2, 1930 with the crowning of Empress Menen, The Empress of Zion, Inc. (EOZ) is honored to report that Moagisi Mogalakwe aka "President Munyah", of Botswana, Africa, has accepted the Office of Co-President of the Empress of Zion.  He was one of the students of the University of Botswana who participated in Jesse Jendah's excellent documentary, "Run Away Slave in Africa."

A Master Educator, President Munyah for the past two and half years is a College Lecturer who works for the Botswana-based very prestigious effective College Program of Pitzer College Claremont, California and its affiliate the University of Botswana.

Pitzer College Claremont , California .
Undergraduates: 963
Acceptance rate: 40 percent
Pitzer, a member of the Claremont consortium of five colleges, was founded in 1963 as a women's college and, now coed, embraces its roots in that progressive decade: students enjoy broad academic freedom, and can build their own programs and partake in independent culturally diversified study.

Pitzer Programs Enhance Scholarship Eligibility
Pitzer’s cultural immersion programs make students stronger candidates for Fulbright fellowships as well as other prestigious national awards like the Watson and Rotary scholarships. Fifteen Pitzer students, the majority of whom completed a Pitzer study abroad program, earned Fulbright scholarships in 2004 and 2005. Nationally, Fulbright records show that no school with an enrollment of fewer than 1000 students has ever won as many Fulbright awards as the sixteen bestowed on Pitzer graduates in 2006.

Philosophy and Educational Goals
A strong commitment to cultural and community immersion guides Pitzer’s study abroad programs. The curriculum integrates traditional classroom instruction with experiential opportunities that lead to an understanding of different cultural perspectives through firsthand interactions with host cultures. This coupling of intellectual and participatory learning encourages thinking in ways that cross over disciplinary, cultural, and social boundaries. It combines cognitive and affective knowledge to allow living successfully and appropriately in new cultural contexts, to better apprehend the cultural adjustment process, and thus to recognize how one is shaped by your own culture. This type of learning can powerfully transform the way one looks at the world and self.

One of Africa’s most politically and economically stable countries, Botswana is home to 1.5 million people and 226,900 square miles of vast savannas, the Kalahari Desert, and world famous wildlife parks. Botswana’s citizens, most of whom live in the major cities, towns, and villages along the eastern border, enjoy standards of education and economic well-being rivaled on the continent only by neighboring South Africa.

Host Institution
The program is affiliated with the University of Botswana, a comprehensive institution of higher learning with an undergraduate enrollment of 10,000, located in the capital city of Gaborone.

The Core Course Botswanan Studies
As the former headquarters for the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Botswana offers a singular opportunity to study cultural, historical, social, and environmental issues that shape and connect national and regional development. The core course combines a series of lectures given by university faculty and specialists from governmental and non-governmental organizations, readings, and extensive reflective writing of the Fieldbook with the more experiential program components of family stays, fieldwork, and study trips to provide a high degree of cultural immersion and cross-cultural learning.

In our Holy Father's House are many Mansions, so please join I&I in strengthening President Munyah in the work of the ARK of Jah Covenant, the House of the Emperor and Empress of Zion.
